Italy Offers ₹92 Lakh to New Village Residents
A picturesque village in northern Italy’s Trentino province is offering an irresistible opportunity for those looking to start anew in the Italian countryside. In a bid to revive its dwindling rural population, the government is offering a free house along with a financial grant of Rs 92.7 lakh. However, there’s a condition attached to this tempting offer. Across the world, declining populations have led to entire villages becoming abandoned, particularly in countries like Japan and Italy. Many residents have migrated to bustling urban centers, leaving behind once-thriving communities that are now struggling to survive. To address this, various governments have introduced schemes to attract new settlers. Italy has previously gained attention for its €1 home initiatives, but this latest relocation package is even more generous. According to a CNN report, the Trentino province—also known as the Autonomous Province of Trento—is rolling out a new scheme to attract people to its sparsely populated villages. The government is offering a total of €100,000 (approximately Rs 92.7 lakh) to those willing to settle in one of the designated areas. This financial aid is split into two parts: €80,000 (around Rs 74.2 lakh) is allocated for home renovations, while €20,000 (approximately Rs 18.5 lakh) is meant for purchasing a property. This initiative aims to breathe new life into rural areas by encouraging people to invest in and restore old homes. While the offer is attractive, applicants must meet certain conditions. The primary requirement is that those who accept the package must commit to making the village their permanent residence. This means moving to the region full-time and integrating into the local community.Italy has long been known for its creative efforts to combat depopulation, with various towns launching schemes to sell homes at extremely low prices to attract new residents. However, this offer from Trentino stands out due to the significant financial support provided.
