India Warns Pakistan of Deep Strikes

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, speaking at an event with the Indian community in Belgium and Luxembourg on June 9, 2025, issued a stern warning to Pakistan. He stated that India would launch deep strikes into Pakistan if provoked by terrorist attacks, emphasizing retribution against terrorist outfits and their leaders for acts like the recent Pahalgam attack. Jaishankar’s remarks come a month after India’s Operation Sindoor, launched in response to the Pahalgam terror incident.

The minister accused Pakistan of openly training thousands of terrorists and unleashing them on India, escalating tensions between the two nations. His comments follow a four-day period of hostilities along the India-Pakistan border, which ceased on May 10 after talks between the directors general of military operations from both sides. The agreement focused on halting military actions to de-escalate the situation.

He highlighted the need for a robust response to ensure accountability for barbaric acts, signaling that India would not hesitate to take decisive action to protect its sovereignty. The minister’s visit to Europe aims to strengthen diplomatic ties, but his remarks reflect ongoing concerns about cross-border terrorism.

The Pahalgam attack has heightened India’s vigilance, with Jaishankar’s warning serving as a clear message to Pakistan’s establishment. India’s proactive approach, including operations like Sindoor, demonstrates its resolve to counter terrorism decisively. The cessation of recent hostilities offers a temporary reprieve, but Jaishankar’s statements indicate that India remains prepared for any future provocations.
