Rajasthan Woman Builds ₹1 Crore Agribusiness

Soniya Jain, a pioneering woman farmer from Jhalawar, Rajasthan, is redefining Indian agriculture through her innovative and inclusive approach. A first-generation agripreneur, Soniya has built a diversified farming business that generates an impressive annual income of up to ₹1 crore. Her success is not only personal but deeply rooted in empowering rural communities, especially women, through sustainable practices and farmer training.

Growing up in a farming family, Soniya witnessed the struggles of traditional agriculture—low income, dependency on middlemen, and lack of technology. Driven to make a change, she pursued bachelor’s and master’s degrees in rural development. After marriage, she committed herself to reviving her family’s agricultural roots, transforming challenges into opportunities with vision and dedication.

At the heart of her agribusiness lies a fully integrated and sustainable farming model. Soniya combines modern techniques with eco-friendly methods—using integrated nutrient, pest, and water management systems. Her irrigation setup includes tube wells, drip irrigation, sprinklers, and rain guns to optimize water use. She ensures healthy crops through certified seeds, seed treatment, timely sowing, and summer ploughing, while also applying advanced post-harvest techniques to add value to farm produce.

Her agribusiness spans a wide range of crops, blending commercial success with ecological responsibility. She grows cereals like millets, jowar, bajra, Pigambari wheat, and maize; pulses such as soybean, mustard, and various chana varieties; and medicinal herbs including Aloe Vera, Ashwagandha, and Tulsi. She also cultivates spices like coriander, garlic, and chilli, and seasonal vegetables such as tomatoes, pumpkins, and radishes. Fruit crops include oranges and papayas.

To maintain consistent quality and yield, Soniya has developed 4000 sq. meters of polyhouse and net house infrastructure. Her success model demonstrates how smart diversification can increase productivity, reduce risk, and ensure year-round income.

Beyond farming, Soniya champions rural entrepreneurship, especially among women. She promotes direct-to-market sales, sustainable farming, and inclusive training programs. Through her efforts, Soniya Jain is not only transforming her farm but also the future of Indian agriculture.
