Vamana Rao Murder Case: Supreme Court Issues Notices to State Government

Previous petition seeks CBI investigation

Orders to submit all related documents for examination

Next hearing postponed by four weeks

The Supreme Court has issued notices to the Telangana state government, directing it to submit all documents, including videos, related to the sensational murder case of lawyer Gattu Vamana Rao and his wife Nagamani. The couple was murdered on February 27, 2021, creating widespread outrage in Telangana.

The directives were given during the hearing of a petition seeking a CBI investigation into the case. The Supreme Court emphasized that it will examine the documents before deciding on transferring the investigation to the CBI. The state government has been ordered to submit the required records within three weeks, with the next hearing scheduled for four weeks later.

During a previous hearing in February this year, the CBI’s counsel informed the court that it had no objection to conducting the investigation if directed by the court. The Telangana government also stated that it had no objection to handing over the case to the CBI.
