Rishi Sunak Corrected by Mother-in-Law at Jaipur Literature Festival

Jaipur, Feb 1: An amusing moment unfolded at the Jaipur Literature Festival when former UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak was corrected by his mother-in-law Sudha Murthy's sister, Sunanda Kulkarni, on how to greet the audience.

Sunak attended the event alongside his wife Akshata Murthy and father-in-law, Infosys co-founder Narayana Murthy. As they entered the venue, Rishi Sunak greeted the crowd with a casual wave. However, Sunanda Kulkarni, seated next to him, quickly intervened, advising him to stand up and greet the audience with a traditional Indian "Namaskar" instead of a hand wave.

Taking the advice in good spirits, Sunak immediately stood up and folded his hands in a respectful "Namaste" to acknowledge the crowd. The lighthearted moment between the two led to smiles and laughter, with Sunak appearing amused by the correction.

A video capturing this interaction has since gone viral on social media, sparking positive reactions from users who appreciated the blend of cultural traditions and respect demonstrated by Sunak. Many praised his graceful acceptance of Indian customs and highlighted it as an example of how Indian values continue to be embraced globally.
