Jagan Slams AP Govt Over Journalist Arrest"
YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has accused the Andhra Pradesh government of turning the state into "a hotbed of anarchy," condemning the arrest of senior journalist Kommineni Srinivasa Rao.
In a strong post on X, Mr. Reddy alleged that democracy, law, and justice were under attack in Andhra Pradesh. He claimed that people, intellectuals, and journalists were being "terrorized" to silence dissent against Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s administration.
"The Chief Minister is grossly misusing power to suppress voices that speak against his unjust rule," Mr. Reddy stated. He further accused the government of targeting media outlets like *Sakshi* with false allegations and distorted narratives.
The arrest of Kommineni Srinivasa Rao, a prominent journalist, has intensified political tensions in the state. The YSRCP chief alleged that the government has been systematically stifling opposition and criticism over the past year.
Mr. Reddy’s remarks come amid growing concerns over press freedom and democratic rights in Andhra Pradesh. Opposition parties and civil society groups have also raised alarms over alleged authoritarian tendencies in the state administration.
The ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has yet to respond to these allegations. However, political analysts suggest that the escalating war of words between the YSRCP and TDP could further polarize the state’s political landscape.
As the controversy unfolds, questions linger over the balance between governance and democratic freedoms in Andhra Pradesh.
