Controversy Erupts at Cheruvugattu Jatara
SI Accused of Misconduct with Woman Devotee
Nalgonda, February 6, 2025: The Cheruvugattu Sri Parvati Jadala Ramalingeshwara Swamy Brahmotsavam in Narketpally mandal, Nalgonda district, took a controversial turn after a Sub-Inspector (SI) allegedly misbehaved with a woman devotee.
The annual Cheruvugattu Jatara, a grand festival, has been attracting thousands of devotees from across Telangana. As part of the celebrations, the divine wedding ceremony of Lord Ramalingeshwara Swamy and Goddess Parvati was held on Tuesday night, drawing large crowds.
However, the festive spirit was marred when Nalgonda Rural SI Saida Babu allegedly pushed a woman devotee and behaved rudely towards her. The incident was caught on camera and quickly went viral on social media, sparking outrage among devotees and netizens.
According to reports, the woman was part of the crowd trying to enter the temple premises, when the SI, reportedly angered by the rush, forcefully pushed her aside. The video of the incident has led to demands for action against the police officer, with many condemning the alleged high-handedness.
Meanwhile, temple authorities and local police have yet to respond to the incident. With the video gaining traction, pressure is mounting on authorities to investigate and take appropriate action.
