Supreme Court Clears Release of Telangana Group-1 Exam Results

New Delhi : The Supreme Court of India has approved the release of Telangana's Group-1 examination results, dismissing two petitions challenging the process.

This decision paves the way for the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) to announce the much-awaited results.

The Group-1 Mains exams were conducted from October 21 to October 27, 2024, for 563 posts, with 31,403 candidates, including those under the sports quota, qualifying for the Mains.

Several candidates had earlier protested against Government Order (GO) No. 29, demanding its cancellation and the postponement of the Group-1 Mains examination. These protests gained momentum with political parties extending their support. Following this, some candidates filed a petition in the Telangana High Court, which ruled against them. Seeking further recourse, they approached the Supreme Court.

Since the case hearing coincided with the examination schedule, the Supreme Court did not halt the exams, allowing them to proceed smoothly.

On Monday, the Supreme Court dismissed the petitions, siding with the Telangana government's stance. With the legal hurdles cleared, TSPSC is now set to announce the Group-1 results soon.

Notably, these are the first Group-1 recruitments since Telangana's formation 11 years ago, marking a significant milestone for the state’s public service sector.
