Indian-origin astronaut Sunita Williams is set to return to Earth after spending nine months aboard the space station. On this occasion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi penned a letter to her, expressing admiration for her achievements and stating that she holds a special place in the hearts of the Indian people.
Sunita Williams, along with fellow astronaut Butch Wilmore, has been part of an extended space mission. The US space agency NASA has announced that their return journey will conclude at 3:27 AM (IST) on Wednesday.
Union Minister Jitendra Singh shared the Prime Minister’s letter on the 'X' platform. In his message, Modi wrote, "Even though you are thousands of miles away, you are close to our hearts. The people of India wish you good health and success in this mission. We hope to welcome you to India after your return."
