According to police officials, the gunfight erupted when security personnel were conducting a search operation in the dense forest area. The encounter led to heavy exchange of fire, shaking the entire region. Preliminary reports suggest that the death toll may rise, as search teams are continuing their operation in the area.
Security forces have been intensifying anti-Maoist operations in Chhattisgarh in recent months, dealing significant blows to the insurgents. This latest operation adds to a series of successful encounters that have weakened Maoist strongholds in the region.
