Congressional Caucus on India Welcomes New Republican Co-Chair
Washington, Jan 30: Republican Representative Rich McCormick has been appointed as the new co-chair of the bipartisan Congressional Caucus on India, replacing Mike Waltz, who has taken on the role of National Security Adviser to President Donald Trump.
Democratic lawmaker Ro Khanna made the announcement on Wednesday, confirming that McCormick will join him as co-chair of the influential caucus, which is dedicated to strengthening U.S.-India relations.
Representatives Andy Barr and Marc Veasey will continue serving as vice co-chairs, while Brad Sherman, who previously served as chair, will now hold the position of chair emeritus.
Expanding U.S.-India Relations
The Congressional Caucus on India has seen significant growth, reaching a record 145 members in the previous 118th Congress, with 35 new lawmakers joining to support the partnership between the U.S. and India.
