New Delhi, Feb 1: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the Union Budget 2025-26 in Parliament, making significant financial allocations for Andhra Pradesh. The budget has prioritized key infrastructure projects, including the Polavaram Project and the revival of the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, among others.

The budgetary allocations for Andhra Pradesh include investments in irrigation, port development, healthcare, education, and sustainable agriculture.

  • Polavaram Project Balance Grant – ₹12,157 crore
  • Visakhapatnam Steel Plant – ₹3,295 crore
  • Visakhapatnam Port Development – ₹730 crore
  • Roads and Bridges in Andhra Pradesh – ₹240 crore
  • Zero Budget Natural Farming Initiative – ₹186 crore
  • Learning Transformation Operations (Education Development) – ₹375 crore
  • Strengthening of Healthcare Systems – ₹162 crore
  • Andhra Pradesh Irrigation and Livelihood Improvement Project (Phase 2) – ₹242.50 crore

Boost for Polavaram and Steel Plant Revival

The Polavaram Project, which is crucial for the state's irrigation and water supply, has received a combined allocation of ₹18,093 crore, ensuring continued progress and timely completion.

Additionally, the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, which has been facing financial challenges, has been allocated ₹3,295 crore for restructuring and operational revival. The Visakhapatnam Port is also set to receive ₹730 crore for further modernization.

Investment in Roads, Healthcare, and Education

With an allocation of ₹240 crore for roads and bridges, the state’s infrastructure is set to improve, boosting connectivity. The budget also emphasizes education and healthcare, with ₹375 crore allocated to Learning Transformation Operations and ₹162 crore dedicated to strengthening the healthcare system.

The Zero Budget Natural Farming initiative, which promotes sustainable agriculture, has been granted ₹186 crore, supporting farmers in Andhra Pradesh to adopt eco-friendly farming techniques.

A Development-Oriented Budget

The Union Budget 2025-26 reaffirms the central government’s commitment to Andhra Pradesh’s development, addressing long-pending projects while ensuring investment in critical infrastructure and social welfare.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has welcomed these allocations, stating that they will significantly contribute to the state’s growth and prosperity.
