AB Venkateswara Rao Appointed as Chairman of AP Police Housing Corporation

Amaravati, Feb 1: The Andhra Pradesh government has appointed AB Venkateswara Rao as the Chairman of the AP Police Housing Corporation Limited for a tenure of two years. This decision marks a major comeback for the senior IPS officer, who had previously faced suspension twice under the YSRCP-led government.

AB Venkateswara Rao, a former Intelligence Chief, was suspended during the previous administration over allegations of corruption. However, after the TDP-Janasena-BJP coalition took power, his suspension was revoked, and the government ruled that his suspension period would be considered as in-service, making him eligible for salary and allowances during that time.

The latest government order now reinstates him into an official role, tasking him with overseeing the operations of the AP Police Housing Corporation Limited. This move is seen as part of the new administration's effort to reverse several decisions taken during the YSRCP rule and bring back officials who were sidelined earlier.

AB Venkateswara Rao’s appointment is expected to strengthen the police infrastructure projects in the state, and his leadership will play a key role in executing major construction and modernization initiatives for the police force.
